Oh i don't mind, i was just making a sad observation.

He melts cheese in the microwave for taco shells and he has a flax seed burger bun he said was just milled flax, butter and eggs. I don't remember the recipes but he'll probably be around in chat later on.

i'm thinking that it isn't just the 9 comments, barret.

Please, do explain it to us.

if i had an explanation, you would have been treated to that instead of speculation.

I'll be goddamed. We just tried it, and it's not bad! Kind of like a rubbery pancake. Just cooked it on a big plate though, so it's not "bunny".

I think my next experiment is quinoa tortillas. Look that shit up.

the most discussed is based on time, so if a bunch of comments come in rapid succession it has the potential to move up the list.
that being said, 1.4g carb bun:
2 tablespoons of melted butter (0 carbs)
1/2 pinch of salt (0 carbs)
1 extra large egg (.7g of carbs)
4 tablespoons of flaxseed meal (0 carbs)
1/2 teaspoon of baking powder (.7g of carbs)

Mix together and put in a microwave safe ramekin about the size of the burgers.. microwave for 1:20 or until center is set. leave it in the bowl for another minute than turn onto a rack and let it cool.

Once it has cooled take a long bread knife and slice the bun in half and make your hamburger as usual.

they are a little 'oily' from the butter used, but if you are bbqing and you toast them it helps, i prefer them to 'normal' buns tho
5 years ago
Okay, ya, I had the same oily observation. -Was wondering if the butter could be cut. -Grilling them would be great though...crispy.
What size bowl...we used a plate and it came out like a large pancake. I'm still trying to cut in in half =(
5 years ago
you want it in a ramekin so like... they have straight edges you should be able to find them cheap at the dollar store, just make sure they are microwave safe (so not plastic or metal) http://www.thebakerskitchen.net/ProductImages/bakeware/emile_henry/ramekin_blue.jpg
5 years ago
they shouldnt be really rubbery or anything.... they should be pretty much the same consistency of like... a dense loaf of whole wheat bread
make sure you mix the dry ingredients first, then mix in the egg until its kinda a paste, then mix in the melted butter... it should be pretty wattery, pour that into the ramekin and give it a few smacks down onto a surface (like smack it onto your hand) to make sure there arent any air bubbles on the bottom
