This is a good read even if you have to click on the picture to read it. I can contest many of the things in this anti American article.

Lets discuss this a bit.

Go for it.
well.. its from 4chan do you expect it to make sense?
I've been all over the world, and Americans definitely have a bad reputation.

The problem is most of us Americans ARE arrogant assholes when we go overseas. Pretty annoying...
There's a lot of this post that's complete bullshit though.

Cold War? WTF? Would he have rather seen us push the button, and annihilate half the world's population instead? -Because that's the only quick way that was ending...
To be fair, I met an American serving at a naval base in Bahrain. He was pretty sound. Problem is, you tend to remember arrogance more.
Yeah, they alway's have a tendency to remember arrogance, and they call us an international bully but when there is a problem the UN always turns to the US to solve it ( by solving it I mean wasting valuable American lives because the UN feels that we have the most expendible military on the face of the earth) We're always the first ones in and the last one to leave because no other country has the conviction that we have to get the job done. I am so tired of Koffi Annan and the rest of the international pussies in the UN using our military as their own personal whipping boy an if we get 4 more years of this fucking islamic joke of an administration this country's strength and power is going to be reduced to nothing more than the equivelant of a high school hall monitor...remember them? the ones you laughed at and never paid attention to or took seriously. Do yourselves a favor and vote this current peice of shit out of office, that is unless you want this country to become "the new islamic province of china" By the way, have you heard about his appeal to congress for complete government control of the internet? You can say goodbye to sites like this.. along with the 1st amendment.. and the 2nt witch he is working with the UN to eradicate also,It's time to ask yourself.. do you want to be a subject or a citizen? Do you want a government controlled healthcare system that is not only unconstitutional but proven (look at Massachusetts) will not work? If you care anything about this country and you're own lives and personal wellbeing vote this psuedo socialist wannabe dictator out of office before he acheives his goal and destroys every facet of the American way of life.

Thanks for the great wall of text Glenn Beck.

Glen Beck rightious in his own way as he should be is an overbearing sarcastic rodeo clown. I'm not going to apologise for the fact that I cant just write just one little 2 sylable sentence as a post, If I have something to say I'm gonna say it, and I f you love Obama so much do yourself a favor and spend some time in North Korea so you can get comfortable with the way of life that he invisions for us.......sheep to the slaughter.
i dont like obama, actually i hate him...lol thats what i love about rightwing nuts if you disagree with them you must be a socalist and love obama and hate freedom!

Politics are bullshit, either it is the republican blasting our ass or the democrat blasting our ass, it doesnt matter with used car salesman we elect this time, romney is just a white obama.

Vote ron paul.

Its not that bad.

Ok taking 40 years to defeat a country like Russia is better than fighting them for five years and causing millions of casualities. Americas health care isn't that bad as even the uninsured get medical attention which if they cannot pay for have only to sign an indigent patient form. Americas education system while not that great is good enough for us to catch up later in life. America beats countries with higher populations than ours and Russia and China are good examples. We win noble prizes for sciences because America has a good education system if you can afford it. Poorer people can get a decent education if they individual is able to work hard and study. Etc.
americas healthcare really IS that bad...
Just wanted to point out Russia does not have a higher population that the U.S.
America's healthcare is still the best in the world by FAR. We lead the medical field in EVERY area of research. Our coverage is not extended to everyone, but we have the best facilities, the best scientists, the most money in research, and come out with the most treatments and cures for current diseases, viruses, and infections than anywhere in the world.

America's education system, not the best. Although our college education system is again by far the best in the world, our schools lead the world in EVERY field and has also educates more foreigners than any other country in the world. To be blunt, people come to America for the best college education.

If you have no money like I said you can fill out a indigent patient form and be treated.
When I was in college it amazed me at the number of foreigners in school with us. The girl in the Harry Potter movies chose an American college and shes not alone.

Americas highschool and grammar schools aren't that great and I know why but I'll pass on the explanation.
Were the coloreds allowed in when you went to college?
i think derps comment shows that amerias education system is horrible :P
6 years ago
i apparently missed a c
America has continually fucked up the English language. That shit is perpetuated through college, and yet we still are #1 USA USA USA USA!
I'll give England one thing when it comes to colleges... Less bullshit courses.

Why the fuck did I have to take a bunch of anthropology courses and sociology courses in undergrad? I was a fucking biology major!
I don't think american schools lead in every field. Or to be more precise, some university's do. And I doubt they lead in every field, but they do in a lot of fields as they have a lot of money. But if 1% or less of your population can benefit from that education, your system isn't that great at all. As an example the base of the jpg2000 standard comes from a Belgian female mathematician that studied at the VUB (Free University of Brussels) and later on worked for AT&T where she made the discovery that made the coding possible. She was educated by the Belgian education system, not the american. There are many examples like this. It's not because the american university pays better that and attracts foreign profs that the system is working better.

@smerf, the reason why you had to take subjects not related to your major was to make you a "well-rounded" person...let me put that another way...an individual with a college degree is presupposed to know (or have been exposed) to certain things. For example, years ago, if you made the claim to be educated and you didn't know greek and latin, no one educated would take you seriously.
I dunno. I heard Brock Lesnar got really sick while in Canada and he said their healthcare was terrible. Felt like he was in a third world country. Had to come to the States to have his life saved.

Healthcare will certainly cost you in the States, but it's second to none in quality.
Brock Lesner is better off treated at a vets.
If you think the United States Healthcare system is #1 you're decidedly ignorant.... It's going to cost you more???? Do you have any idea it costs to purchase individual health insurance for a family when you are not included in group rates? We ARE leading in certain areas, say infant mortality, which I believe right now we have dropped to 41, right behind Cuba, and there is no excuse, our babies should be the healthiest according to all you dimwits saying were number one! Not dying at a remarkable rate for developed rate for developed nations-
6 years ago
^fuck it, you shouldn't stop in the middle of a comment to have sex then try to finish lol
6 years ago
It is a very good reason to stop though jen !
Sociology and anthropology make me well rounded? Fucking bullshit.

I have never and will never need to use anything from a class that covered the "cultural and gender diversity" requirement from undergrad. Chicano Culture my ass!
Jenbirdy, shut the fuck up, If you had an understanding of the English language you might grasp content beyond the first sentence. What I said was, "We lead the medical field in EVERY area of research. Our coverage is not extended to everyone, but we have the best facilities, the best scientists, the most money in research, and come out with the most treatments and cures for current diseases, viruses, and infections than anywhere in the world."

We spend over 19 billion dollars per year in Medical research, 2nd best, all of Europe at 5 billion.

What you don't seem to understand is that all the other counties in the world buy their medicine from American companies because we have invented over 76% of all treatments and cures since 1985.

My point being that although most Americans either can't afford the care, or the US government has not approved these treatments for clinical use, America is still the leader in in every field of research when it comes to the medical field. So you can cry all you want about how America has this shitty system, but know without the 2.2 trillion dollars the US dumps across the medical field every year (almost 50% of the entire worlds expenditure on the medical industry) the rest if the countries would have no treatments for anything without reallocating their current budgets away from treatments to research.
yeah, but its pretty shitty do spend so much money in research but not be able to cure the own people.
american healthcare system is totally fucked up
6 years ago
Is an Americans life worth more than a Canadians life? So long as people get the treatment, the system is working. Only difference in the system is that most countries government pays for the cures, not the individual like in the US.
People don't get the treatment you fucktard...
Everyone knows you're an idiot WD
...... People all across the world get the treatment you fucking idiot. Follow along. All the systems that you say are so much better than the US medical system are only successful because of the research done by American companies.

I cannot make it any clearer than that.
She must have an alarm that goes off when her name is mentioned.
im still not sure if hes trolling us.
There's a difference between scientific research, and a healthcare system. A huge fucking difference. Point, grasp it.
If he fails to grasp that, then he's just a flaccid cock with a strawman argument.
wholly fuck.....

Mako.... the US spends upward of 51% MORE money per person on Health Care than the next closest country (Norway). And like I have been trying to tell you, the majority of that money goes to medical research. Without which, other countries would have to move their current budgets away from treatment and towards research for cures/treatments. If we neglected a majority of research and just bought the drugs like other countries, we too could have an amazing treatment system. You guys seem to think that these cures and treatments spout out of the ground and everyone can have these amazing systems without any investment into the treatments.

Medical Research ... but not treatment. That's not healthcare. It's big companies researching for cures that will improve their profit. Not researching for cheaper or better medicine.
thats the point...the companies make money with their research.
whatever, youre a fucktard durb, no need to discuss this topic any longer with you
6 years ago
His point is that while the system doesn't take care of every single bum that needs healthcare for free, it leads the world in medical breakthroughs and technology. If you can afford it, the best the world has to offer in the medical field is in the US. If you can't, well that sucks.
yeah, but there are not just some poor bums that cant affort anything, it effects most of the people in the us.
and the conclusion ist that the american healthcare system is fucked up, no matter how good the research is. thats my point.

You just said you get tons of immigration and how mexicans are trying to claim asylum. Wtf are you talking about? Counter-fooled, huh? Dumbass.
leave it to an american to try to have a pissing match over number of immigrants tho huh
6 years ago
btw if you want to get into the pissing match about it, canada allows WAY more immigrants in every year percentage wise than the usa, so you kinda lose there...
and you are american.. so you lose there too :(

i was asked a question directly about it by possum, did you miss that fuckface?

Percentage wise I've got more immigrants in my family than Canada has, therefore my family is better and more desirable.

/me lets cock hang out

Trivia - Canada and California have approximately the same population.

Now as for the "britfag", I don't know which I find more hilarious, the fact that he as a far'ner has clearly put so much emotional stock into the US's shitty education, healthcare, and finances or that in one breath he's essentially gloating 'we've royally fucked over more people than you through empire building', while in the next, it's whining over how the US detains and tortures people without trial. Mmmk.

Question of the day - who invented the concentration camp?

Yeah, concentration camps were operated in a different time, with different ways of looking at things. Much like building and maintaining a glorious empire for hundreds of years with the advantage of a larger gap in technology between empire and potential colony, and ROE that didn't hinder the raping.

But britfag is the type that likes to look at things in context only when it's convenient. Such as with per capita noble prizes, gold medals, and anything else that would give a more favorable result. However, when it comes to debt lets talk big numbers, and not acknowledge how deeply in the red his home country is; though not even percentages can disguise the ugly therein.

To sum up the rest with a bit of sarcasm: No, British politicians are certainly not self serving scumbags, and are not out of touch with the average brit. No, the US didn't rise to the top in less than 200 years after beating the british in a revolutionary war in which someone will mention help from the french and spaniards, and I'll respond that the brits had assistance from mercenaries such as Hessian soldiers. Yes we're pussies for not pushing the button and making the cold war hot. Yeah, we're culturally devoid and have made no important contributions in the forms of science, tech., medicine, space travel, films, music, TV, business, or britain's favorite food chain (take a guess). Yes the US will go down in history as a failed, loser nation while the UK will be remembered for much success and admirable attributes, namely their modesty.

The End.

Or maybe that was an oat in boot...?
not that the numbers were easy to find or that i think they are necessarily correct, but i came across something that said canada was seeking 260,000 immigrants in 2011. i also found something else that said usa deported 400,000 in 2011.
You have some good points brady, but the most important contextual factor is the 2 world wars during which Europe was devastated- economically, architecturally, in any infrastructure you can think of, while the US was largely unaffected. Europe had to redevelop allowing the US to proceed in becoming the most advanced nation on the planet, with no competition. Thats simply a fact, I can't argue that at all. But when you hear American gloating about their nation, and saying they saved Britain and are all glorious you can understand why everyone else hates you, because the majority of people who chant "USA, USA.." have no idea why their nation has been ahead economically and technologically.
Message to Europe: "Stop hittin yourself"

USA! USA! USA!

Really though, the US was on an upward swing prior to the world wars because of population growth, natural resources, industrialization, and opportunity. People can and will find a reason to hate anything, just as long as hating it is fashionable. Personally, I'm no fan of blind arrogance or simple minded bigotry.

*squalling* I'm just saying what needed to be SAYYYEED, Mr. Funk!

well said mr brady..its too bad you had to pretend to like carol brady all them episodes...when really you wanted some of Sam's meat
6 years ago
It's that complete obliviousness to what non Americans have to say that proves a lot of people right. I don't hate the US, I don't have a reason to. What ticks me off are individuals who can't take any criticism of their country, or in the US in particular, acknowledgement of the world and opinions of the outside world. It's fine if you want to live in an insular society only concerned with itself, but don't be surprised when other nationals tell you so. echoing the typical Muslim response to people criticizing Islam.
Another thing, and I know I'm going on, but foreigners might be more inclined to champion America, myself included, if you didn't already do it enough yourself. I like America's prolific contribution to the arts, animation cinema and music. Why don't you just give someone else the chance to praise you for a change, instead of bragging like bad sports all of the time.
I disagree with your assessment as to why America was able to become so technologically and economically advanced. Portugal, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland (and a host of other countries) were not even in the war and, for the most part, did not have their infrastructure destroyed. The U.K. was not even affected in that way sure they were bombed quite a bit but it was never to the point that they lost critical infrastructure yet after the war they had no economic boom. Russia and West German recovered fairly well from a war that razed much of their country. I think there is a lot more too America becoming what it is today besides not having been touched by the Great Wars.
It is when you consider the economic relationship the nations involved in the war had. Britain was allied with a host of countries with that were either also badly affected by the war, of in the case of the US, Australia and Canada, had no practical means of economic advantage. Germany was occupied by Russia, and Russia became wealthy from that siezed wealth. Britain was economically isolated. And if you consider Europe's countries as states that rely on eachother economically, how was it to thrive if half of it's countries, countries that were once the most prosperous, were ravaged by war? America is immune to much of these problems because for one thing, the states are united by a common language and government, and it's interstate economy unaffected in the same way.
It's really a very complex concept to analyze. You can't just say "oh yeah, it's cos were awesome."
I know that's not what you;re saying though, KFC
6 years ago
I've always looked at Europe as just a more divese America so I understand the union these countries shared in economic terms and how the destruction of much of Europe affected nations locally, and globally, even if they did not directly partake in the war. I disagreed with your assessment because I feel it was rather incomplete. I do not believe that the only reason the U.S. became what it is today simply because it was lucky to not feel the war on it's front door. Before even World War 1 the U.S. was becoming a significant world power primarily economically but also militarily. Yes it is a significant factor that we did not lose infrastructure during two wars but I was trying to demonstrate that even countries that suffered greatly were able to bounce back rather quickly and experience an economic boom such as Japan, Soviet Union, West Germany, France and even Italy. I also do not believe that the USSR sustained 20+ years of rapid economic growth simply because of seized wealth. I guess my TL:DR response would be similar to your post. It is really a very complex concept to analyze but you can't just say "Oh yeah, it's cause of blind luck that the war didn't land on your lap." .... Though I also know that is not what you are saying as well sir MAKO.
Yeah... It's because we're AWESOME.
makodragon, dooood, I understood every point you made and agree with probably most of it. To summarize:

- Europeans think Americans pat themselves on the back too much and don't believe they fully understand why the US is where it is.

- Merkins believe that Europeans try to take away from the successful rise of the cunt-ree by attributing it all to their own misfortunes and nothing else.

- I believe it's some of both. While the US had all the elements for future success (with or without Europe's misfortune), WW2 pulled the US out of the great depression and helped put the country in a position of greater global influence.

- BOTH Europeons and Merkins get the feeling the other is completely oblivious to their points of view and that is often the case.

- I said I'm no fan of blind arrogance. example: USA/UK/insert country of choice is #1. We're best at everything! We saved your ass! You speak our language! If it weren't for us, you'd speak German!

- I said I'm no fan of simple minded bigotry. i.e. Everyone hates you because you're all fat, stOOpid, and dare to have your own perspective that might differ from mine!

- I couldn't give a fuck less if someone wants to criticize the shitty state of US healthcare, education, politics, corporate greed, social issues, or any number of areas where the US is worse off than many other countries. I would never deny this. When it's to try and make a larger point of how the US has never amounted to anything and will go down in history as failures, well that equates to screaming "my heinyhole hurts" and I have a hard time looking at that as valid criticism worthy of serious consideration for their point of view.

- The "saying what needed to be SAYYYEED" line was a reference to the "It's still real to me dammit!" blubbering wrestle dork, and I'm very disappoint it wasn't caught.

- I like the US and all western nations for the most part. Some are better in certain areas and all have areas where they can improve. I would love to live in Canada or any part of western Europe and have always been partial to the UK and Ireland.

- I have not done any bragging or ragging on anyone else.

- I never thought I'd have this discussion on MS. I'm going back to begging for pits.

As an Englishman who has traveled quite a bit, I find it amazing how different the worlds opinion on the USA is. I liked my time in the States, but the arrogance that I found when working with the US forces was a bit fucking eye widening to say the least. The tech that the US forces have is fantastic and beats the socks off the rest of us. But as they say " with great power comes a greater responsibility" and they still have soooo far to go.
As a civilian I've employed Americans(overseas) and even they agreed that they were surprised at how people regarded the US. One guy(uni grad in late 20's) in particular, honestly couldn't believe that others took offence when he said that the US alone won the 2nd WW. Needless to say he got re-educated.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not a states basher, I've had fantastic times there.
As for some of the crap that was written by Whirlingdickbush, it astounds that he might not comprehend that out sourcing to other institutes and scientific communities might be why the US is ONE of the world leaders in medicine. As for...... Fuck this is doing my head in. I know that not all American's are like the one's who rant USA, USA, USA all the sodding time (should only be aloud at sporting events or meetings of similar nature!!) as you get "those" types in every country, but I guess as the US has a bigger platform they try and command the most respect which just pisses others of......Waiting for some comeback off this one........

I was in port on the USS Nimitz in Jebel Ali, UAE while the HMS Invincible was also in port back in 1998. I got to admit, I had a really good time sitting around drinking and shooting the shit with those guys. I can't speak for the ground-pounders, but with us navy guys there never was any sort of animosity. In fact, it was quite the opposite. In fact, it was pretty-much the best part of being in the UAE, as it was kind of a shithole otherwise.

I'm going to say this. Conyers has movies made here and like I said in other posts we hqve people frm all over the world comming here. Australia, New Zealand and Great Britain. The congregate at The Pointe and they seem to love it here.

Conyers is not that impressive a place. Its backwoodsy and rednecky.

Theres a directors daughter from Sydney who plays pool with me and she thinks the ol Squid is super cool.
