The 2008 bank bailout of $750 billion was greater than all the money NASA had received in its half-century history; two years’ U.S. military spending exceeds it as well. Right now, NASA’s annual budget is half a penny on your tax dollar. For twice that–a penny on a dollar–we can transform the country from a sullen, dispirited nation, weary of economic struggle, to one where it has reclaimed its 20th century birthright to dream of tomorrow.

Shit, they can take 2 pennies from me!

The USA bill for air conditioning tents in Iraq and Afghanistan is about $20.2 billion per year... which is more than NASA gets at the moment.

it must have been quite chilly in those tents...

Probably not. I know the people that go out there to test the systems.

why spend money on something we all know allready ? God created all that stuff in it is like it is because god wanted it that way. No money needed.

This is quite nice. I fully support NASA. Not only for the science part, but for the spectacular fuck-ups they do every so often.

We as parasites need to find a new host, because we aren't going to change our wasteful destructive ways. So if NASA does not go on we are pretty much done.

politicians have done a fantastic fucking job in getting the public to believe the government is incapable of innovating in the same way that private business can and used the mindset that government shouldn't and can't 'do things right' that it makes something like the nasa budget cut an easy thing to do

1981. My 7th grade science teacher was an inspired, enthusiastic optimist. It was contageous. Saw him a few years ago at a local bar, bitter, jaded, pessimistic, all because of this. The dream abandoned.
