You don't need that long barrel to defend yourself, if you're taking a long shot, you're most likely going to prison for manslaughter because no one is going to believe you were defending yourself at even ten yards. Plus, it's so small that even in a jean jacket, it's undetectable and that's another law, you're not supposed to be able to see the outline of your weapon, if so, it's not consealed.
When I carry, mine is a .38 special on a belt clip holster. Snub nose. Love that gun, so reliable. I have a 9mm too, but I don't like carrying it. I've had it jam a couple times on me.
