Maybe Someone Can Help Me

This is my soon to be 13 year old Beagle, Molly. I've already spent over $600 trying to find out what's wrong with her. Her vet can't figure out the problem, so I'm hoping maybe someone on here might have had or seen something like this before and maybe can tell me what she has. My wife thinks it's congestive heart failure.

My mothers dog did something similar. She didnt cough as often as this, but what the vet found was a tumor pushing against her throat causing her to cough and hack and have trouble swallowing.

They took x-rays but nothing showed up. She coughs and then gags like she's going to throw up but only spits up water after she drinks. She has no problem swallowing food.
She does that after exerting herself, and then it calms down when she relaxes.

Weird. Your description almost sounds lke asthma. Im not even sure if dogs can get asthma.
My wife said the same as yours toolman
when she would play or run around would she suddenly fall and lay down? that can be signs of hart issues.
I asked a friend and it really sounds like hart problems. not good. until you find out for sure just give her a lot of affection. good luck tool.
put your ear next to her hart you might hear gurgling if it is

If it were CHF then the x-ray should of noted the fluid on the heart and cardiomegaly. Without showing cardiomegaly I'd also rule out heart worms. Doggie bronchitis maybe? It's one of the few things I can think of that wouldn't show on the x-ray.

Also, this depresses the fuck out of me. It makes me want to go and pet the hell out of my dog.

its probably kennel cough not to serious but get off your ass and get em treated

Why the fuck are you idiots voting on this?!!!

I was just coping drum lol
I copied you. And so the chain begins.......................
because I can tell you really care about them to be looking for answers on here, not because of the state shes in.
That is so fucking depressing. I hate seeing animals suffer.... my parents spent over $5000 trying to save one of their stud dogs from his extreme bowel problems. Vets couldn't do anything, he had to be put down.
The vet told me she's not suffering because I asked her if she needed put down and she said no.
Have you seen other vets to explore more opinions?
Just judging from what I have read today and your comment above.
Does anybody in your immedient family not have some fucked up body symptom?
lol shes trying to be nice but still fuck her.
I'm just curious, thats all. One cant shit, one smells like shit.
That's why I videoed her to send to my vet so that she can forward it around to other vets to see if they might know. I haven't worked in over three years fluffer and couldn't really afford the money I've already put in to trying and finding out what it was in the first place.
If things go bad ill tell you how to put them down if need be without hurting them or making a mess. had to do it for my cat. not to jinx it or bring the mood down more.
^Love to kill things.
hope things go well, its a sad thing to have a pet suffer.
white-devil, how do you know how I smell? Been sniffing my undies perv?
yeah I love to kill my cat who was suffering from cancer just for fun. fucking retard.
Might be fluid on the lungs which I think can happen with CHF. Doubt it would hurt to try a low dose of furosemide which is a water pill, cheap, and they have it at the vets office and I'm sure cheaper online.
Well, you also take up raping and beating women. It's just part of the standard sociopath profile.
how'd you know. wona come over and partake?
I'll pick her up and bring her over.
So it's fairly inexpensive to have them check for left sided heart failure. One of my boxers had it and sadly after he started showing symptoms he only lived about six months. You just need to have the vet run an EKG on your dog. It was only about $50 on top of the office visit at my vet. It will show if you Molly has an arrhythmia. There is medication they can give her too. Watch for swelling on her hing legs as that's sort of last stages stuff. I'd say judging by that cough she has something going on with her heart as well. Wish you the best of luck, losing a pet is hard

thats weird I feel like I never see you on. haven't been on much lately myself so maybe thats why.
Possibly, I'm not a comment whore though. For I rarely have anything worth saying about anything
6 years ago
as much as I'd agree to that last comment. I feel as though you probably had/have the best answer to toolmans question and are probably the most qualified to answer it

Hey may have something in his airway or maybe he's just sick. try to get him to drink lots of water. not really sure at all but hope the little guys gets better. just give him love and try to make him happy tool.
if he eats grass there might be some stuck in his throat. try to stick your finger down there to check he'll freak out but it wont hurt him. good luck bud.
She's been doing this for about 4 months now and she doesn't eat any more grass then she normaly did before. she'll still eat a turd though, that make me sick.
lol then clean it off the floor. try it though maybe its something else wont hurt and you'll be happy if thats what it is.
So on this airway thing beagles are prone to something called "reverse sneezing" which is caused by an irritation to the soft palate. Although this doesn't really sound like that, it's something you could bring up with the vet when you go in. It's normally nothing but if it becomes a regular thing they can do surgery or administer allergy medications
6 years ago
She's been doing that reverse sneeze since I got her. That's fucked up.
damn.

i had a bichon frise that made it to 17. twords the end of her life she couldnt walk, move much, barely stand by herself and coughed like that. my family spent alot of time and money trying to help her but dogs do not age gracefuly. we had to put her down.

I wife useto be a vet tec I'll see if she know anything
6 years ago
well if the x raxy did not show hart or lung worms it may be a fungal diseases or they dog may have developed an allergy to something
6 years ago
unless the vet had his thumb over the tumor
6 years ago
you could always try Diphenhydramine hydrochloride (Benadryl) it's safe for dogs
6 years ago
Really man I wish you luck it seems like you really love that pup.
Toolman, does anyone smoke in the house?
no
maybe they should
when the dog finally does go, you should have her stuffed....then post
6 years ago
There somes a time when you have to let them go.
I know that, but I hate seeing her coughing like that all the time. Especially at 4.30 in the morning when she's sleeping in my closet.
JenE on here is a vet tech.
Hopefully she can help.
My dog made a similar noise from a young age, it was the result of her trachea collapsing. Apparently it's a pretty common problem in smaller breeds of dogs.
poor pup =( try going to another vet. Can dogs get a whooping cough? It could be a heart issue maybe even allergies?
she died the end of march you insensitive prick
5 years ago
forgot oops... blame mucho for making it featured you dick
5 years ago
How long has your dog been a pack-a-day smoker?
It's her heart tool. I had a beagle when I was a kid that did the same thing.
My bad! Sorry Tool! Don't kick me in the nads I didn't repost it.
Dude....put that poor thing down. Side note....when our old westie got old she would do something similar but it was just her esophagus getting old and less rigid, I don't think the vets would have missed that but its an idea.
Did I mention she was old?
i always used to wonder if people read the previous comments and noticed how old they are....
sometimes I don't notice until after i've subbed the comment
