If anything, American football resembles rugby more than soccer/football.

So how the hell did it become known as Football? No correlation whatsoever.

When the U.S. seceded from England, they started doing everything differently, just to prove a point. Which is why we drive on the other side of the road, race horses the opposite way and soforth. I'm not sure on this, but I wouldn't be surprised if we took the name just as a big ol' fuck you to England.

We call it that because we can, England. WHUT?!

Football is played on foot. As opposed to other sports using horses, like polo

Was I talking to you, zeke? Nope.

because what you said made no fucking sense whatsoever to begin with.....

I was talking to Ivan, since he asked how it became known as football.

Zeke, do I need to teach you how to read?

Ivan was talking about American football, which is not played 'on foot.' Polo does not equate horses either. I think I'm reading just fine.

Uh, zeke? Apparently, you don't know what the phrase "on foot" fucking means. It means you're running around instead of riding something.

Polo, by the way, abso-fucking-lutely means horses, unless you're talking about water polo.

In football, all play takes place while the one in possession of the ball is on his feet. Play stops when the player is taken off his feet, at which point he is "down". Hence, football.

America is the world's top country so they get to decide what it's called anyway.
