It's funny to me that most of the populace thinks it's ok for government to take X amount of their hard earned money at gunpoint.

I'm weird like that.
its funny to me that most of the populace thinks the government has to provide them with roads and hospitals and libraries and police and firemen and a military and a drivers license and breathable air and drinkable water and regulated electronic frequencies and car safety standards and shall i go on?
Because they do? Name one country where the government does not offer their people those things.
you name me one country without taxes first
6 years ago
Exactly, the point of government is to offer these things to people. To look out for the public interest.

Does this always happen to its fullest extent, no. But idealistically that is what government is there for in the first place.
Wait, did i misread yours? I think we are arguing the same point hahaha
6 years ago
ummm i dont know who youre arguing with but my point was taxes pay for all those things people expect their government to provide them

so roland should just row a boat out into international waters and stay there
6 years ago
Yeah same argument haha
Kojach, people drank, and ate, and lived, and loved long before taxes and restrictive government legislation, and they will again.
Yeah when they had a population of 2,000, and rode everywhere on horseback.

You enjoy those days when dysentery killed you.
I know a country without taxes! Somalia!
"the point of government is to offer these things to people. To look out for the public interest."

Bullshit.

The government doesn't have anything to offer that it didn't take from someone else, i.e., the working taxpayer, or China. What exactly does the government produce that is financially significant? I'll wait all day for your answer to that.
Ok. Security. Without government Banks could not exist. Without banks, business as we know it could not exist.
P.S. A pop-tart sounds pretty good right now.

The government should supply me with one.

WHERE'S MY FUCKING POP-TART?

*Riots and cries like a school girl.
Only if we all get one!

That's Communism!
Banks have existed without government help. Business existed before that.
Where, and when?
the fact that someone mentioned banks as being something important is part of the problem
6 years ago
sorry.. misread Yes they existed w/o government help. But that was a time when bank runs occured. Money you stored in the bank was not backed with any sort of security. There was no common denomination for currency. It was a trade based society.

Im sorry but i like the fact that i can get milk at the store using cash rather than bringing in an elk i just hunted down.
Banking is probably the most important part to a stable society, and a growing economy.
you are of course joking

hopefully..
No I'm 100% serious. Show me 1 society that has ever worked without a bank. And don't say rome, because although they did not call it a bank they had a central currency backed by the state of rome (aka central bank in todays lingo)
name a society that hasnt failed because of banking.

exactly.. none including now.

and it wont stop with us either because of idiots thinking that money is actually important, when its not, and until morons can put aside personal greed and the idea of 'wealth', society will continue to keep failing like it has. humanity has a lot of growing to do still, obviously.

i guess i should amend, those societies all didnt fail including our own *because* of banking.. but all of those societies did fail (including our society that is failing right now) has and had banking.
Show me 1 society that has ever worked without a bank:

Native Americans
Lol if you want to argue what would work best ideologically then i would agree with you. However practically, communism (which I'm assuming is the direction your leaning towards), will never produce a better standard of life when there is another capitalistic country in the world.
its just simple.. if you think that banking and credit and money are needed for society, you are the problem.
im not leaning towards anything... and no.. communism is also a religious standpoint, and i believe that anyone should be able to worship any imaginary thing they want, communism does not allow that (as you may or may not know i guess)
capitalism is not something that is 'good', hopefully you can see that
6 years ago
Lol that is such a bullshit arguement Bono. Show me Native Americans running a society of 1billion people. They can't, at a certain point, government is NEEDED.
You didn't specify any requirements, just society. They were actually doing pretty well until we came along, too. No one was ever sick or drunk. And for that matter they had a universal sign language and treaties they actually understood.
uh... native americans had one of the most advanced governments ever....................................................
Communism as its Ideal, not as Soviet Russia. Don't get those confused.
thats actually one of the MANY things that the indians gave americans actually....
THIS is what is wrong with history! Both of you have NO CLUE of what you are talking about.

Let me draw this out in a VERY simplistic form for ya. Native American tribes were region based. If resources became light in one region they moved. Then wars were fought between tribes, almost always one of the tribes were wiped out, or moved on to a new region. They never split regions. A large reason why Americans were able to move across the great planes with moving westward was because they were playing off these rivalries between the tribes. Life was in no way good for the native Americans. They had infanticide rates of +30%, they had starvation occuring on a regular basis, and maintained tribes of no more than 200. The Iroquois league was formed by some of the larger tribes in the region, who acted much like a governing body. People like you say "OH LOOK HOW SIMILAR THEY ARE, THE US CONSTITUTION WAS TAKEN FROM THEM!" When in reality this is SO far from the truth. You can read any one of 100,000 books to find that out (Start with one by Eric Foner).

Beyond all this, you know why guns sold so well to tribe? Because they could use them to kill the other tribes better! To gain more land and territory. The only place that this was an exception was the Pacific northwest where tribes were able to remain in the same location year round due to fishing and hunting seasons on opposite sides of the year. And even then there was a governing body between the natives which offered huge trade services, and regulatory prices among them.

Please don't argue history, especially Native American History, to someone with a degree in it.
the Iroquois specifically. Also, I think that the government should provide basic needs for the people, roads, water, food, shelter, security and then leave everyone the fuck alone after that.
ohhh someone has a fancy degree so that makes them an expert... pfft
6 years ago
Not an expert, but someone who knows a shit ton more than someone who only read Wikipedia and Howard Zinn's A Peoples History
6 years ago
They still giving out internet degrees, are they?
so now you're back-peddling. Good job noob. Why don't you stick your damn argument and provide some proof to your claims, instead of claiming you're an expert then saying your not an expert.
anecdotal evidence is not legitimate
What are you smoking, would you trust someone with a B.S. in psychology to diagnose you? No, but they sure as hell know a lot more about psychology than the average person.
well psychology is a bs field anyway
I have a B.A. in History, not a Ph.D. If i had a Ph.D I'd call myself an expert.
Do Eskimos have a central bank?
that's great but degrees are meaningless. All that means is you wasted your money to cheat your way through a 4 year degree
6 years ago
"There are 53 Inuit communities in Inuit Nunangnat, but only 6 of them have a bank."

So yes.
source?
How do you cheat at history? All of our tests were essay tests.

While i agree with you to some extent that degrees themselves are worthless. I actually went to school to learn, which is why i have a social science degree and not a business/communications degree.

i believe that the phrase 'history is written by the victors' is applicable here..
Was, written by the victors. That concept was lost 100 years ago when the majority of people could write.
That's what Hitler said.

Thanks for the primer on banking and American Indian culture whurlingdurbish, I enjoy the enlightenment and boundless knowledge you've bestowed upon the ignorant Mucho masses.

I'd be more inclined to listen to your collegiate epiphanies though, if you could spell your own fucking name right. It's "dervish" you fuck! Also tell us more about the great "planes". Were they 787's?

Inquiring simpletons want to know.
question for Roland: do you often confuse "Mucho" wif "Redstates" or whatever?
at, like , 1:45 CST?

settle down, and i promise i will out-conservative you when i'm sober...someday

My ancestors roamed the great planes long ago, typically pitching their teepees aft of coach to avoid the headwind.

If you're asking, I don't post my ramblings anywhere else really.

As far as someday..

Boom, that is why Warren, if he were 25 years younger, should be USA CEO. Still have a president, but fuck that trophy VP guy and have a businessman CEO running the economics of the country.
i agree having one guy as president inchardge of morale and security and those important things.. then have a manditory businessman who isnt corrupt (which would be the most difficult part) as a vice prez and let im tackle the economy since thats what hes spent most of his life going.. crunching the numbers and putting successful systems in place.
couldnt agree with them more, the worlds big nations arent going to pay off debt by slashing both taxes and spending.
That's the first comment I read about this vid that actually makes sense. Even tough both are just talking populistic PR-Shit to make them look as if they'd care.
They're telling suckers what they want to hear.
Gates and Buffet don't want to pay more. If they did, they would. No one is forcing them to get richer.

What these two fuckers really want, is a transfer of wealth from the richer to the poor, because the poor will buy their bullshit. Buffet's the guy who likes tobacco because it's profitable and addictive, he doesn't give a shit about people, he just cares about having customers for the shit he's invested in. He knows that as long as the poor can afford to kill themselves bullshit products, and as long as they can get free prescription drugs to delay their deaths, his tobacco and coke and pharmaceuticals and all that shit is going to make him a shitload. So sure, he'd be fine paying another 5% tax, because he knows the government is going to give that cash to his customers and his stocks will go up 10%. Gates has similar investments, and no one is forcing him to take advantage of tax loopholes. These two are spewing fucking bullshit from their mouths and little faggot bitches are licking it up because it's what they want to hear.
thats why they all donate shit tons of money probably, to make themselves feel better for all of the atrocities they have been involved in.
Gates never donates enough to make his net worth go down.
And what he donates to makes his pharm stocks go up. So tax break on donation that comes back to him anyway. Africa is great for these billionaire motherfuckers like Gates and Bono because for every dollar that is pumped in, $1.30 comes back out. When they donate to africa its like a bookie donating to a gambling addict - they only do it because they know its coming back to them with a bonus, and it makes things worse for the africans.
If you do the math on these shit countries, the money the people get in total (including their employment income) is actually less than what is sent as foreign aid. These billionaire fucks are able to suck out all the foreign aid dollars plus a little more. All the while going on TV telling you to donate more and get taxed more and help stop aids and help pay for vaccines and shit.
