A Pittsburgh tradition.
If you ever come to visit me, I'll take you there and buy you any sandwich you'd like.
With a cold beer of course.

I had to stay there once for work. There's some place there that has the best fucking stuffed shells, and deer sausage. You know the place, Tool...it's on top of that one hill. (It is right across the street from a Marriott)
Tambellinni's? Mount Washington? Did it overlook the city?
Claude, saying on top of that one hill in PGH., is like say that one grain of sand at the beach.
Uhhh Ive been in every Marriott in the city, there is no hill across the street from any of them.
Maybe he was in the hill district.

This reminds me of a song from Hee Haw...
Gloom, despair, and agony on me
Deep, dark depression, excessive misery
If it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all
Gloom, despair, and agony on me

We figured she was rich, loaded to the hilt
And we figured she had class like the Vanderbilts
'Cause we had heard for years how she was so well reared
How was we to know they meant the way she was built

Gloom, despair, and agony on me
Deep, dark depression, excessive misery
If it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all
Gloom, despair, and agony on me

Just three years ago, the wife's bussiness was starting to show profit and I was making just over $48,000 a year, then Jesus struck us down into the firey pits of hell! I mean Satan, I think.

And yes yak, the postman always brings bills on Saturday.

Specialized in abused children.
Hey, since the Postal Service is broke, you'll probably only get bills like 4 days a week soon.
Wow what sucks is I am just as broke as you guys and I actually work, 6 days a week, 9 4 hour shifts. I'm not allowed to even get overtime.

More proof that god supports child abuse!

is this a very american thing to do with a sandwich? put french fries on them? on tv shows (we watch a lot of like cooking shows or food related shows like diners drivins and dives) so many places have french fries on their sandwiches and burgers...
in canada i dont think ive EVER had a burger or sandwich with fries in it... not to say that i wouldnt.. its just that noone here ever does that.
It's a traditional PGH resturant yak. If you ever come here, I'll definitely take you and Deja for one.

I've only seen this on Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern and the other show with Anthony Bordain. 2 Awesome shows for foodies
6 years ago
yea bizarre foods is a good show
yak it's usually a regional thing. There isn't anywhere in Jacksonville, that i know of, that does this. Although, I have put fries on my own burger.
I've never had fries on a sandwich. Onion rings is more common. Yak you talk about the us like it's some far off land that's completely backwards from canada lol I'm like 5 hours from you! We have the same stuff.
5 hours can be a whole new world when it comes to food, there is some weird shit you can only get in certain regions of the country. i have the same reaction watching those same food shows. bizarre foods is an awesome show btw
6 years ago
knowing how close you people are to me doesnt help me sleep at night!!! :P
but seriously... for being so close to canada.. there is like no trickle over... like think about chocolate bars or chips... how common are ketchup chips there?
I have never wanted to try a ketchup chip, but they are available here lol I think of them as like a gimmick. You buy them to try them and realize they're gross. Like the dill pickle ones.

what do you mean chocolate chips? You mean like the things you put in cookies?
fun things like chocolate chips and fries in a sandwich are banned in canada
6 years ago
*gets mental picture of fries-please in a man sandwich and ralphs*
6 years ago
oh maybe what you guys call candy bars?
thats what i mean
and have you never tried dill pickle chips?
dill pickle and ketchup chips here are very common and popular
6 years ago
yes I've had dill pickle chips. they're good up until maybe chip # 3 or 4. they're good with a sandwich.. I get the concept. Ketchup chips don't seem like they would go with anything. I don't really like ketchup though in the first place. I want to try them now though!
i hate ketchup but ketchup chips can be good... gotta be in the mood for them.. generally i just like plain chips with dip tho... here we have all sorts of freaky flavors now... tandori bbq... loaded baked potato... general taos chicken
6 years ago
pc loads of creamy dill pickle chips are the awesomest dill pickle ones... they don't get old after a few chips. and either herr's or lays ketchup chips are they only way to go. my favourite!
i worry about you DW
Zapps craw tators are the best chips ever made.
craw?
fish?
They use the seasoning from crawfish boils on the chip, almost the same as a crab boil. They are amazing
6 years ago
at the grocery store in the 'ethnic' isle they have cuttlefish flavored chip like things :(
6 years ago
i worry about me too, fries =(
crawfish boil... that's just about the most appetizing phrase I've ever heard. When you said that, I imagined the "seasoning" being puss from a zit lol
6 years ago
although i am flattered that you imagined me in a manwich
6 years ago
i highly doubt they use zit pus....................
like 80% sure..
more like haunted by rather than imagined

@yak: fries on sammiches are a pretty common sight in france as well....

What self respecting American doesn't have a deep fat fryer?
This one because I am well respected here in America. North & South America
6 years ago
deep fryers are a pain in the ass to use and anything you make in there worth eating can be baked in the oven with a lot less trouble
6 years ago
that looks delish, toolie!
