Pretty sure California should be in red.
Er? The colors represent political views, California is one of the bluest states.

Does gay have a color?...cuz that would be California.
That would be pink. Or brown.
I didn't have political party in mind. California is just a waste of space. We should cleanse the land and put it to better use.

'aboot' no matter how much u may hope, canada is not an American state
8 years ago
Rural votes should count for 10x what city votes count for.
Actually your voting power should just be based on what percent of the land you own.
I agree with that.
If you're not an employed taxpayer or retired, you shouldn't get to vote at all.

I gave my vote to my non-citizen girlfriend cause she actually cares for some reason, otherwise i just piss on it cause its fucking worthless. but keep believing that you are making a difference roland and that you matter and that those with money and corporate american aren't the real people running the country.
btw, politics is gay
Nobody owns land. They just rent it from the government. If you don't pay your rent (property taxes) the government takes it from you.
Al Franken won by a margin of 200 something votes at the very end from absentee ballots (usually left uncounted) and my ballot was one of them. I'd say my vote counted.

There are millions of Americans who see through this partisan division bullshit propogated by FOX AND CNN, and recognize that the garbage coming down the pipe from both parties are turds masquerading as cocktail weenies, party flags held high, while coasting along the a stream of sewage using the Constitution for a raft when it's buoyancy suits them, and lawyers and lies when it yields to the filth. Nice post Adams, you ignorant, indoctrinated fuckhole.
lmao, bravo roland, im glad you understand my entire political philosophy because of one picture i find humorous. Not like you care but i don't see much of a difference political parties, and i think most politicians care far more about their bank accounts than their parties, constituents, or the American people for that matter. So nice observation roland, you self righteous, assuming, ignorant prick.

rolando is the smartest puerto rican on mucho
8 years ago
Dear Adams,

Your subsequent posts cry foul of your latter statement, which would infer an allegiance to Constitutionalality over ideology. Not so, my friend, sadly, not so. You've clearly established your butt-hungry love for one side, while ridiculing the other.

P.S. Loonies like me > your Hot Pockets and mom's chore list.

Gee, is this coming from the same Roland who compared Senator Ted Kennedy to a turd? Yeah, you should definitely be preaching about "partisan division bullshit"
I like how people allow the media to choose their opinions for them.
Bush is to fecal compaction, as Kennedy is to maggot ridden cellulitis. Are you getting my drift yet, Chester, or do you need a pair of bifocals, and a seeing eye dog to guide you through my philosophical maze?
Surely, it's fraught with peril, but I'm sure a free thinker like emperor will find the exit, and emerge unscathed.

America needs a Green Party or NDP to fuck shit up.
America has a green party fuck stick, ever heard of Ralph Nader? He's a stupid bastard just like you.
If you say anything bad about the faggy democratic fag party the empofag will assume you're a republican.
Green party is full of douche bags.
Oh ok Roland, so you have no political bias? Except, strangely, whenever something is said against Republicans (or FOR Democrats) you come out swinging.

You're not very good at hiding your true bias there kiddo, but keep trying.
I heard you came out swinging on that gay cruise.
Fucking Mucho, won't let me post Huxley!!!!

Talk about the fucking memory hole!

Self-government is in inverse ratio to numbers. The larger the constituency, the less the value of any particular vote. When he is merely one of millions, the individual elector feels himself to be impotent, a negligible quantity. The candidates he has voted into office are far away, at the top of the pyramid of power. Theoretically they are the servants of the people; but in fact it is the servants who give orders and the people, far off at the base of the great pyramid, who must obey. Increasing population and advancing technology have resulted in an increase in the number and complexity of organizations, an increase in the amount of power concentrated in the hands of officials and a corresponding decrease in the amount of control exercised by electors, coupled with a decrease in the public's regard for democratic procedures. Already weakened by the vast impersonal forces at work in the modern world, democratic institutions are now being undermined from within by the politicians and their propagandists.

Good job Pussyhands, at /not/ pwning Canadian politics. Dumbass.
Not so Emperror, but the overwhelming majority of people on here (like you) watch or listen to and regurgitate liberal bs. The Republicans do the same shit, but as there aren't many here you don't hear it as often. Maybe six? vocal Libertarians/Coustitutionalists, or whatever.

1. Huxley is good shit.
2. "Kiddo"? ..seriously? I doubt your umbilical cord has fallen off yet, noob.

Fuck you, OJ. I am not reading all that shite. And, you always get it wrong anyway.

The Arts of Selling

Human beings act in a great variety of irrational ways, but all of them seem to be capable, if given a fair chance, of making a reasonable choice in the light of available evidence. Democratic institutions can be made to work only if all concerned do their best to impart knowledge and to encourage rationality. But today, in the world's most powerful democracy, the politicians and their propagandists prefer to make nonsense of democratic procedures by appealing almost exclusively to the ignorance and irrationality of the electors. "Both parties," we were told in 1956 by the editor of a leading business journal, "will merchandize their candidates and issues by the same methods that business has developed to sell goods. These include scientific selection of appeals and planned repetition. . . . Radio spot announcements and ads will repeat phrases with a planned intensity. Billboards will push slogans of proven power. . . . Candidates need, in addition to rich voices and good diction, to be able to look 'sincerely' at the TV camera."

The political merchandisers appeal only to the weaknesses of voters, never to their potential strength. They make no attempt to educate the masses into becoming fit for self-government; they are content merely to manipulate and exploit them. For this purpose all the resources of psychology and the social sciences are mobilized and set to work. Carefully selected samples of the electorate are given "interviews in depth." These interviews in depth reveal the unconscious fears and wishes most prevalent in a given society at the time of an election. Phrases and images aimed at allaying or, if necessary, enhancing these fears, at satisfying these wishes, at least symbolically, are then chosen by the experts, tried out on readers and audiences, changed or improved in the light of the information thus obtained. After which the political campaign is ready for the mass communicators. All that is now needed is money and a candidate who can be coached to look "sincere." Under the new dispensation, political principles and plans for specific action have come to lose most of their importance. The personality of the candidate and the way he is projected by the advertising experts are the things that really matter.

In one way or another, as vigorous he-man or kindly father, the candidate must be glamorous. He must also be an entertainer who never bores his audience. Inured to television and radio, that audience is accustomed to being distracted and does not like to be asked to concentrate or make a prolonged intellectual effort. All speeches by the entertainer-candidate must therefore be short and snappy. The great issues of the day must be dealt with in five minutes at the most -- and preferably (since the audience will be eager to pass on to something a little livelier than inflation or the H-bomb) in sixty seconds flat. The nature of oratory is such that there has always been a tendency among politicians and clergymen to over-simplify complex issues. From a pulpit or a platform even the most conscientious of speakers finds it very difficult to tell the whole truth. The methods now being used to merchandise the political candidate as though he were a deodorant positively guarantee the electorate against ever hearing the truth about anything.
^I was actually copying that out on my book before I had the bright idea to find an e-book.

Yeah yeah, I know most of you wont read it. The only people who would get anything from it are the likes of Wanko, Roland, Hank, PUSSY etc, anyway.
I got to "Oranjeboom says:"
Oh, it's about candidates.

One thing I know is you have to be really fucking thick-skinned to be a candidate for any level of meaningful government. You won't even get your name on the ballet otherwise, you'll just get pissed off and quit and cry like a baby. So any candidate you see pretending to be a softie is totally full of shit.

The other thing, once you get past that part and you are on a ballot and can be voted for, is that you have to be corrupt. You have to live and breath corruption, not just enjoy it as a hobby. Everyone else is corrupt, so what happens is that you either join them in doing shit you never want anyone to know about, or you're done. They have to have some dirt on you, or your campaign will be derailed by a sudden shitstorm that comes out of nowhere and someone else will take your place.

Likely you will never have the opportunity to vote for someone other than a heartless and ambitious SOB putting on an act so you'll think he's human. If you do, it means some pissant little third party (could be a fourth or fifth or sixth party depending on your country) that has no chance of winning is on the ballot.
Nothing really revealing in that excerpt, Oranje. The majority of people are stupid, and it is necessary to appeal to them if you want to have any sort of support. I thought that was apparent.
They only devoted two or some sentences to enhancing peoples fears. You could write an entire book on that alone, hell, right now there are probably think tanks conducting polls and crunching data to figure out new and more effective ways to do (with certain long term outcomes as goals) just that.
That was just taken from one chapter, there is an entire chapter devoted to the marketing towards hopes/fears.

It just made me laugh 'cause I based my dissertation on 'social responsibility & the effect it has on a marketing strategy'. I wrote 17000+ words on how social responsibility is just one of the many ways in which a brand can be made to appeal the people on an emptional level without actually offering them any tangible improvement over any other products/services. The Means End Chain is the model for how you promote a product/service solely on the hopes/fears of prospective customers. I know full well its immoral bullshit, but hey, I now work in PR.
http://www.huxley.net/bnw-revisited/index.html

That is where I took the excerpt from. It is from Brave New World Revisited, where he examines what he prophesied in his book & Orwell did in 1984. Huxley wasn't exactly bang on the money, but he was pretty fucking accurate.
Thanks for the link. I'm currently re-reading 1984, after fifteen or so years, and am thoroughly convinced that if it were required reading on a global scale today, there would be a worldwide revolution within a month.

"In regard to propaganda the early advocates of universal literacy and a free press envisaged only two possibilities: the propaganda might be true, or it might be false. They did not foresee what in fact has happened, above all in our Western capitalist democracies -- the development of a vast mass communications industry, concerned in the main neither with the true nor the false, but with the unreal, the more or less totally irrelevant. In a word, they failed to take into account man's almost infinite appetite for distractions."

TV anyone?
I've never actually read 1984. It was when I was looking for a copy of 1984 that I came across Brave New World. If you haven't read it/don't know, it was Huxley's Brave New World that inspired 1984.

You should definitely get it. Hell, if you send a self addressed envelope I'll post you my copy.

They were both required reading in my high school.
