frame rate of video camera syncs with the rotor speed
9 years ago
And the tail rotor is spinning uselessly slow? Nope, try again.
Who's holding the strings?
hi nihilus, i just came out from 5 years of lurking to tell you to fuck off because thrax is right
9 years ago
Haha, you fail at physics. To change elevation like that, the rotor would have to be changing speeds, so the camera couldn't possibly sync with it.
if that were true then why is there no blurring effect, I'm going with nihilus on this one, plus the thing looks plastic
9 years ago
hi ihateyou...i just came out from a semi-stupor to tell you that
Lurk Time Counts For SHIT
To change elevation the rotor blades just change the angle they're at, not the speed. Watch them turn slightly at 26 secs.
Who gives shit about some stupid helicoptor?
its not a model the camra is synced with rotor speed hence the mains lookin stationary and the tail rotor moving slow. also i never seen a revel model with retractable landing gear. and the facry that you can see the heat distortion from the exaust.
No shit was given...just info.
DragoKatzof, your typing and spelling skills speak volumes about your knowledge of helicopter and camera operation. Oh, and I cannot see any heat exhaust distortion whatsoever, so it must be fake.
the frame rate of the camera is similar to the rotation of the main rotor, so it appears to be still (capturing a frame at exactly the same time it takes the rotor to move a partial rotation). The rear rotor is at a slightly different speed, so it appears to be rotating slowly. If the pilot speeds up or slows down the rotor, it will appear to move. Very similar to when you see a hubcap appear to be still or rotate backwards.
When that happens, it's always blurred, and there's a definite "ring" of the whole path of the rotor. There is none of that here; the rotor is as still as it appears to be. No camera or helicopter has controls to set their speeds SO PRECISELY that it looks like this. It would have to be absolutely perfect, and perfection is, by definition, impossible.
Hehe, Nihilus you fail at understanding choppers, the rotor lift is determined by the pitch not the speed, within reason they operate at a fixed rpm, the engine exhaust note will change as the pitch changes, loading/relieving the engine.
jesus h fucking christ
Actually the Camera and the main rotors do not sync perfectly, if you watch on rotor the throughout the entire video you can observe that it does move. I think that the blur affect could have either been edited out, or that the frame rate of the recording was fast enough not to blur the rotors. It is very bright so it may be possible if using standard film (not digital mediums).
Or it's a model on a string, and the still rotor that you see, is A STILL FUCKING ROTOR. Which is more likely?
That you still don't understand choppers.
cumulative age of everyone in this thread, minus irish and possum?

I think its a fake as well. Its so funny how you little boys pretend like you know some bullshit information about video or film frame rates and this is all totally feasable, but yet totally discount the more obvious-toy on a string..and btw, tamiya model company makes some seriously realistic models
9 years ago
Well this is good for a laugh, I think I'm gonna go and make a cool toy car video where the wheels turn backwards, seeing as its black magic and can't really happen.
Does anyone watch Top Gear? They explained this phenomenon quite well. It's the same concept as when a car's tires look they are moving backwards while going forwards. Frame rate and Rpm's...that's it, nothing fake about it.
I dont think anyone here INST familiar with that phenomenon..but what is always accompanying that "photo in time" in motion blur..no way you could "clean it up" digitally unless you had pixars equipment-and even then, who the fuck would bother?
*ISN'T
CAPITAL FAIL!!!
A rotor is hard to see with the naked eye, unlike a car's wheel, theres a few thousand rpm difference there, the gear required to capture this footage would have to be good, a correspondingly slower camera which had synchronised would show the rotor doubled or tripled and the blurring effect would probably be visible
9 years ago
This is obviously the Canadian Dragonfly....your all wrong.
Ok, so race, politics, shooting dogs, and now interesting Helicopter-Camera tricks spark large debates. This is why I love this place; it's so fucked up.
fuck you magawd you made me look that up
^Stupid noobs.

*with obvious exceptions.
It's just caught in an updraft. Go back to fucking helicopter school you dipshit flyboys.
Why should the rotors be blurred? Frame rate has nothing (specifically) to do with the blurring effect. Frame rate is either 24, 25 or 29.97 fps. To eradicate blur you (or the camera) uses a faster shutter speed. Rotors don't spin that fast, really, so stopping motion blur would be possible with 1/1000s shutter speed or even slower.

I didn't know that video cameras have shutters.
125t, you need to back-on down a little with the revs of heli rotor blades. An Apache or Jet Ranger helicopter probably never exceeds 400rpm. A typical car running at 60mph has wheels bumbling around at about 800rpm. Most of you lot above are way, way, way short on technical knowledge and how cameras work.
They all have shutters, 1rish. Whether they're real or electronic, they need something to limit the sample-time at the sensor. They read the sensor status, stop reading, write the information away from the sensor and then have another peek. Sometimes they peek for way less than 1/1000s.
Maybe it's not actually running and Yoda is using the Force to keep it airborne.
Helicopters rotor blades would be around 450-650 RPM, with VERY few exceptions.

Thousands? hahaha Don't act like an expert when you don't know shit.
^aimed at 125t
how in the fuck is everyone physics and engineering experts? you seriously telling me the demographic here consists of people who dont drop IQ points each time they jack-off?
^what he said
The internet breeds super-intelligent humans, didn't you know this?
I feel smarter already
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
9 years ago
You don't really drop IQ points every time you jack off, do you?
i hope not
I'm not including auto-asphyxiation in that
9 years ago
I drop IQ points everytime I read one of Irish's comments.
Maybe you should stop jacking off as you do it
9 years ago
Maybe you should stop fucking your sister. She doesn't like it. She told me.
verynaughtyboy, I do it for a living. I have to be good at physics and engineering...
She'll learn to like it. and Para, I fail to see how those are
the requisite disciplines for gay porn fluffing
9 years ago
Fluffing is a very precise science, I'll have you know...
I noticed that a few of your were against the truth and the only logic answer to the video..lets hear some other explanations..seriously i want to hear em.
verynaughtyboy nailed it on that one, Hank.
It was Yoda...
Aids.
it's kind of like int he big woodworking shops with lots of saws running and such they are not allowed to us floresent(sp) lighting because they can flicker at the right speed to make a table saw's blade look like it's not moving
9 years ago
Hmm, at first I thought it looked fake, but then I watched for a few more times and it started to look real...one thing bothers me though, it sort of looks like the pilot is going all over the place throughout the video so either he's showing off at an air show (doubtful), some noob trying to practice (most likely), or the whole thing is a fake (least likely).
Anyone who thinks this is anything other than a syncronized frame rate/rotor speed ILLUSION... is an idiot. Hilo rotors are constant speed, vriable pitch propellers. The tail rotor spins about 10x faster so it isn't synced. There ya go, end of story, shut the fuck up.
Its a toy on a string. End of story.
It's not even a fucking helicopter douche bags.
It's a pancake
See, PUSSYHANDS can see it plainly. Right on PUSSY!
if the rotor was exactly in sync with the camera shutter or whatever , wouldn't this be a phenomenon i would have seen before?, considering the hundreds of helicoptor videos i've seen
9 years ago
Yes.
That noob probably nailed you, Irish.
repost
It's a Flight Sim X movie capture with a live sound recording. Not rocket science.
Irish enjoys being nailed
Why are you always fantasizing about me?
but everybody knows it
you never see the ground so maybe its free falling along with the camera. fuck i dont know
9 years ago
obviously...
Cmon guys, this one's easy. It's a toy on a few strings, with sounds added.
It does look like a toy.
was my first thought...

toy
fishing line
some wind
sky background (filmed only from snakeview)

-____-
hmmm, at 00:25 the wheels are folded in to the helli, still a toy? (must be a professional hobby helli with a joystick)
I tie a string around my penis, draw a face on the end and make a little toy out of it. The kids love Mr. Happy.
I think that its a real chopper being lifted by another helo and the rotor is just free spinning due to the wind and the above chopper's down draft. The cables have been creatively edited out.
I like to creatively edit my penis in your mom's mouth.
^misspelt dad
^Misspelled please fuck me in the ass, Hank. You are my god.
Engines with propulsion baffles to change direction and altitude slightly without the rotors running? There are a few military planes that have tech so they can have semi-vertical takeoffs.
Its dark sided stuff!!!
or a Revell model and some piano wire.
when i was a kid, i thought Revell was god
9 years ago
IT IS NOT CHRISTIANNN!!!A
hey that's me^
Yeah, this is probably a model with a motor or free spinning tail blade. However, it's not impossible that it could be real, provided that the camera happens to be/is intentionally synced with the rotor and what looks like change in elevation is more just change in camera angle. Helicopters do rely more on rotor angle than speed to maneuver.
Plus wtf is the point of faking something as pointless as this.
^^ Much(o) internet debate of course
repost.
You're all wrong. This is a demo vid for Call of Duty:Battle in the Threads. Look it up....
WINNER!
Looked like when a plane stalls out , then has to be restarted...in this case, I doubt helicopters can achieve high enough speed to stall out and keep moving in any direction besides forward or down.
..The HIND D is doing something called autorotating, they're using the airfoil of the rotors as wings,if you watch the video again watch the outside main blades...
I think this video proves the existence of God. I mean how else could this be possible?
hey, hank, i need your help on something, will you help me out?
No bullshit.
What?
I only have 5 or 10 minutes, then I have to get ready for work.
Gotta go. I will check back later.
Check your hankmonkeylove email account, please. And, if you have the time, reply.

Fucking ISP's, always leave you without internet when they want to.

It's a nearly life-sized replica of a helicopter. It is hanging on a cable from an actual helicopter that cannot be seen in the shot. They are doing this because they are setting up a shot in a movie. If the clip would have continued you would have seen the helicopter eventually "crash" just like the director wanted.
Sorry, but you are an assinine asshole. Please assassinate yourself.
Ok the helicopter is being lifted by a another helicopter the blades are NOT spinning they are casting shadows to well to be spinning. Also the tail rotor is spining from the down draft.

i'm sure glad you joined , the rest of us idiots have learned something from your lesson
