34 Billion dollars do develop NASA, and this is what they are doing up there?

I'm sure the shit fucking videos are classified.
shit fucking?
that would get out of hand in space.

Experiment... Successful?
Quite cool, not what I expected anyway.
how is this not what you expected.... like... what did you expect a boomerang to do when thrown?
Yeah, its about air resistance, not gravity
9 years ago
exactly asphalt
It's not air resistance, it's fluid dynamics.

so there:p
I seen a vender at the mall do the same thing, but with alot more area to work with.
its God bringing it back, so screw you heathens.
You tards, it's not air resistance or fluid dynamics...it's quantum physics
9 years ago
what a bunch of fools you all are, it's clearly magic.

Boomerangs work like an airplane. So long as there is air, and gravity equal to or less than on Earth, they'll work. If they were on Jupiter it might be an issue because that boomerang would weigh about 35 lbs, but that is a bit of a special circumstance.
Thanks Mr.Wizard.
cough cough... fag... cough
nothing weights more just because it's on jupiter.
^ Anti you fucking idiot, Jupiter is massive. The gravity is more intense

Science kicks major ass (especially religious ass)
It's not rocket science, you know. Wait, it actually is. Never mind.
ztirffritz, gravity has little effect on how an aerofoil behaves in a fluid, the only difference would be the energy required to throw it.
Negative. Its mass would have to be increased due to the weight increase. There wouldn't be enough surface tension for the air to support. It be like throwing shotput and expecting it to make its way back.
In a higher gravity field, the mass of the boomerang would, according to Newton's laws of motion, and laws of gravitation, hace a correspondingly higher mass. The aerodynamic model still works, but requires more energy to do the same task.

*have - wasn't me, the c and v switched places.

Mr. Fugs! Brains ans a sense of humor, very nice.

Awww shucks!

*blushes*

i kinda smoked most of my physics knowledge away..

Gravity and mass have nothing to do with the situation. It works because there is oxygen which allows the blades to chop through the air and create high and low pressure, it's called Bernoulli's principle.
Ugg I hate it when you people start talking about science...
Mass - Physics. the quantity of matter as determined from its weight or from Newton's second law of motion. Measured in kg or lbs.
Weight - Physics. the force that gravitation exerts upon a body, equal to the mass of the body times the local acceleration of gravity: Measured in Newtons.
The mass of an object doesn't change just cause it went to Jupiter, you really need to go back to school fugs.
So I got weight and mass the wrong way round, it's not that bad considering I left school in '81. If you put the word weight in my statement, it would be correct would it not, Sevym?
And if we're finding fault, Pussyhands, it doesn't matter if oxygen is present or not (unless you are there).
No. Were all in agreement that it would be heavier, right? Well, just imagine the same design but being comprised of steel, or anything that would make it weigh that much. No amount of force would be able to compensate for the loss of force due to the gravity in conjunction to the (lack of)lift from air pockets. It would be too heavy to work, no matter how fast its acceleration. It might curve, a tiny bit, but the equation is all wrong for true flight that it is designed for.

Science Fight!

If the gravity is stronger, it is probable that the atmosphere is more dense, therefore, Bernoulli's principle would still work and the boomerang would still follow the same path.

Here endeth the lesson.

wow all this whole long as comment thread and its just retards trying to make themselves sound smarter than the other.

Doit is just jellous, i mean jellis, shit, gullus... fuck... doit is a dum dum.

If batman was ever given a superpower, it would probably be something crude like being able to do that on earth.
Erm, I am pretty sure alot of people can do this on earth.
Batman is a wimp.
Yah, but not batman...
batman has a cool car; as far as I can tell, that and the big chip on his shoulder are his only superpowers

i wanna see a boomerwang in space!!
^gaaaaaaaay!
Hitler still hates you!

This is cool but not as cool as a grammar school kids suggestion that it would be a good scientific project to watch a spider make a web in zero gravity. They took a garden spider in space with them and the spider after several tries adapted and made a perfect web in zero gravity.
They should have given that spider the fucking congressional medal of honor and a fucking nobel prize!
i wanna see the video for that...
and i don't mean the spider receiving the medal...

space is gay
Hey, hey, hey. Play nice, mister. Space is not gay. Now tell it you're sorry.
Space is gay, and people who speak up for it are uber-gay.
uber duber gay

I stole that from Vic.
Dik, you know you like black holes...
Now that's just racist.
Space makes me depressed
See? That means its good jamiee. Anything that makes us depressed is eventually either good or kills us. So, win win.
Anyways, space is bi, so I don't know what we're all arguing a-boot.
I thought Dik was into brown holes anyway.
i'm touched that you remembered, irish..

now quit grabbing my ass, you homo!
What else did the flaming homo steal from you?
His anal cherry.
one big orgy out there anyone?
he was gentle to me..
air? gravity? quantum physics? space is gay? 34pounds if on jupiter? im no scietist bu ti reckon the boomerang is resisting to the oxygen within the thing they are in, sending it returning to the guy who threw the thing in the first place. ing. i dunno. i just felt like writing crap too. neat party trick.
