I had a batshit crazy Global Studies teacher chick in high school that had been to every continent. She said that traveling can be amazingly cheap so long as you sacrifice some amenities... food could have been on that list though sooo...

And again, adamdrinkslots, no safety cable.

Climbing to the top wouldn't be so bad. Climbing back down, that would suck!

Climbing up Long's Peak in Colorado is a lot like this at the last bit. It's not scary

That picture is slightly misleading, when viewed from the side it is actually almost vertical.

There's a set of good pics here;

That chain and walkway combo would probably be where I quit. I climbed Longs Peak in the late eighties though, cool view from up there looking down on the tops of the clouds.

While this is pretty cool, it cant beat the snowball fight me and my brother had on the Kahiltna Glacier on Mt McKinley

I just wiki'd Longs Peak and it looks good, but it's too high for me. Being a lowlander, I could feel the altitude at Newfound Gap, which is only 5,000ft, at 14,000ft I'd pass out.

Probably wise, I live at 5000, and puked my dehydrated chili I had for dinner all over the rocks up there. The altitude did it, but the next morning I was ok to finish going up, we were camped just below the summit, but well above timberline.

Ah I see, Longs peak is to Harneys as McKinely's is to Everest... I was confused since the latter in each is the actual highest but the previous has more actual mass since I also went up Harney, but I was like, "It really didnt seem THAT big" comparitively
10 years ago
Harneys is 7200, Longs is 14000+... so Harneys is to Longs, as McKinley is to Everest... or am I missing something?
