"He sustained an open fracture of one leg, and was flown by private helicopter first to Lillehammer hospital where surgery was performed, then on to Ullevål University Hospital in Oslo by ambulance helicopter for a new surgery due to problems with the blood circulation in the leg. On Tuesday morning, after the third surgery, the second one for restoring blood circulation to his left leg, the doctors announced that it would have to be amputated below the knee.[3] After surgery by Dr. Thomas Hölzenbein, his condition was described as "stable", and it was affirmed that Lanzinger "could have died" without the amputation because the leg was virtually dead below the knee. The treatment of Lanzingers injury during the first hours have been critiziced, and some comments have held that a better attention to the blood circulation in an early time could have saved Lanzinger's leg."

to cut it short:
leg amputated... the guy survived...

i hate when peopel blame hospitals when they do something dumb and the hospital does all it can and they then want to sue.

fucking moron if you werent being a retard on that jump you wouldnt be so pissy about losing a leg that youd sure just to make someone ther the obcvious (you) idiot

like that dumb bitch john ritters wife. "oh oh tmy hubby dies of a heart murmur or somethis instead of a hear attack! ill sue caus im sad!"

bitch please no doctor cantell his hear has a tear in it all the simptoms pointed to a heart attack it isnt till the treatment failed that they even thought it was anything else. god stop trying to make other people pay for your pain from losing your husband.

@ Morph: It wasn't Lanzinger (the skier) who complained about the first aid, it was skiing officials (FIS,...), and they have every right to criticise the shitty organization.
In every downhill competition you're supposed to have a rescue helicopter on stand-by but in this case the norwegian dipshits didn't have one to begin with, then they couldn't get one and ultimately the austrian team had to arrange a private (!) helicopter to transport the injured skier.
His leg might have been fucked nonetheless but the arrangements were a joke.

i read about this in the norwegian newspaper. all that crap is bullshit, the arrangments were just fine. the doctor said his injuries were so bad he would have apuntated his leg anyway had he got there as soo n as the accident happened.

@ elchris: as I said earlier, he would have probably lost his leg anyway, but you can not honestly tell me that the precautions were in order. "Hey, we've got a severly injured guy here and nothing to transport him with, what are we supposed to do, could someone spare a heli or something?" gimme a fucking break.
When McCartney crashed in Kitzbühel (see related, 2nd) he was retrieved within 50 seconds, notice any difference?

i guess this dude should learn how to ski before getting to pro contests

since i'm ignoring ^this piece of shit...can someone else remind him of how fucking stupid he is please?

Fuck him. When you get on two 4" wide pieces of fiberglass and roar down a mountain at 60mph, you assume the risk of death. He got off easy.

i'd be suing the motherfucker that tuned my skis. the first ski comes off as its supposed to but the other binding was way too tight.

There was a helicopter there, and it did take him to the hospital.

The problem was that it couldnt hoist him up directly from the slope, they had to transport him down to the bottom of the slope first.

So what you said about the austrian team hiring a private one is bullshit.
