The best part of IPV6 is that they'll find a way to tax everything you do with it.

I understood absolutely nothing. I'm so relivied!

Basically there's a new IP protocol now, IPV6. It has far more ip addresses, some neat features such as multicast, and is designed to patch current holes that allow for anonymity on the internet.

much more streamlined, being that its not old old old old old code.

No anonymity on the internet? Say goodbye to Muchosucko.

We're all pretty easily trackable, but there remain some ways to be anonymous with a good connection that basically rely on being real rich or in another country or both. They're gonna close up all those loopholes.

Already most internet traffic through the world is routed through servers in the US at some point. Once the new infrastructure is in place, all traffic will be viewable in the US.

The only way that happens though is if the OS vendors are forced to rewrite their stacks to make IPv6 mandatory.

IPv6 has been around for a while now and I have yet to see one corporate entity, except for the Feds, adopt it. Why? Because it is too "difficult" to implement.

While making the source of traffic more tracable, there are, and will be a ton of loops to make v6 un-detectable.

But I will enjoy having 6 octets in my address....that will throw all the dummies off....

So your'e saying my teleprinter with a monitor plonked on top connected to a 14k modem is now out of date? please no! not more technology. I have an Audi 2.8 v6, will this suffice and keep up??

It's hard to say how it will work out. I'm sure the assholes will try to mandate it, but, 10 years ago we were also have to have no more analog TV stations using up our airwaves by 2008, and I don't think that deadline is gonna be met.

Your audi sucks but a 14.4 modem is more than sufficient for downloading small text files that describe the internet.
