that kit would have to be worth atleast fidy grand
11 years ago
dw shells with the 2 bass drums would be about 6 grand i would estimate he uses his signature sabian paragon cymbals that would be about 3-3,500 and the roland v drum pads and little xylophone thingy prolly 5 grand. regardless it is expensive must be nice being a legend people give you free shit

I still say that he is one of the top 5 rock drummers of all time, and at least two of them are dead already.

I enjoyed Bonzo much better.

everyone knows Animal from the Muppets was the best drummer of all time.
Actually Animal and Buddy Rich had a drum battle and Buddy Rich killed it..I submitted a vid..

Ah subdivions, love that song. Rush is one of the few good things to come out of canada, along with moosehead beer and Into Eternity
11 years ago
Into Eternity??? Oh fuck no, man. Their music is alright but the vocalist... WTF??? I saw them live because they were on the bill with Megadeth and Arch Enemy and I had to winch everytime he sang(screeched) off-key.
Tim Roth you have to give credit to regardless of the singer, but your not a fan of Falsetto (sp?) ala rob halford? to each their own i guess, but it did take me a while to get used to growling vocals in general. and to think arch enemy has a chick doing it that well....
they alllllll suck.....especially megadeth i mean just bring out the bud light and start the party when your litsening to them i mean thats at least a step higher then wine coolers and cher

i still thing into eternity sucks

best thing outta canada.BENEATH THE MASSACRE i mean technicality and precision mixed with power.
It took me some time to get used to the growl-like vocals as well. I started off with Children Of Bodom and went from there. The Falsettos, are, like the growling, gutteral singing also hard to swallow. King Diamond comes to mind...
what about Snow, that reggae maestro of toronto?
there is a band "the falsettos?" i meant the singing style falsetto when they try to reach a pitch their unable to, resulting in an odd scream
11 years ago
Yeah, I know. When I said "The Falsettos I mean people who sing using a falsetto... Like King Diamond.

the king of percussion? id rather be something cooler like the king is herpes...

just like portnoy, showoff as much as you can because you know you're the shit. yet its garbage. chris adler's style is way better.

My all time fav. drummers: John Bonham (Led Zeppelin - Neil Peart (RUSH) - Terry Bozzio (Missing Persons) Josh Freese ( A Perfect Circle)
Josh Freese? What the fuck? Try Danny Carey.
The sheer craftsmanship of this guy, you are watching a man who is a master of his trade. No wasted motions no useless flash just pure form.
please, rush is so fucking gay. I'll take Cryptopsy any day.
I would have to agree. I cant stand the guy sounds like a woman but this is one of the Rush songs I actually like.
rush is tight regardless you have to remember where it all started i mean think about it withour rush or led zeppeling there would be no cryptopsy
11 years ago
flo is god! to the people saying about the price, he wouldnt even have to pay a cent for that kit.
Wow, that was uninspiring even for prog rock.
Darrin from Goldfinger kicks @ss too.
this iis lame,if you had that many drums sarounding you, you could just swing
now the guy from 36 Crazyfists is good, he has like 5 peace set or what ever, its hella small and hes kicks ass with it
11 years ago
there are many gods of percussion in my opinion and def. one of them is john bonham.

How about Ray from Fear Factory???

i wonder if this was posted after what i'd said about this clip. either way, glad it's on here. everyone has their opinions, their favorite styles, guys who show off or make it look effortless, but neil peart is easily the most coordinated drummer of our time. there are other clips of his instructional dvd on youtube, one in which he keeps a 3/4 time with his bass/hi-hat and plays a different tempo with his sticks. amazing. bottom line, he's someone who pretty much found his niche and blew it open. you mention his name and everyone knows him. mention some of the other names posted on here and a good amount of people will respond with 'who?'. it's called 'legendary status'. well earned, also.

its a big drum set but not impressive skill. check out Atomship, that drummer runs the show.
