I got a couple of tattoos about 8 months ago. My skin seems to want to reject the black ink, the areas with black are slighly raised while the red lays flat with the skin. Could be a reaction to the components in the ink though I hear it's rare with black and more common with red. Have you had any similar experiences or any idea if this puffiness eventually goes away?

What you are referring to is a condition caused by scar tissue. Whoever tattooed you, simply went to deep. It takes years of experience to master the medium of tattoo art and get the precise depth of the needle.

I thought about that possibility also but I didn't really think that was the cause as I've had no problems at all with the red ink areas, and the artist having 12 years of experience. I got touch ups on both about a month after initially having them done (skin didn't accept the ink). Maybe that was too soon. I dunno

Yeah, definitely could have been too soon. The skin is still very tender after 4 weeks.

confused about why a yin-yang is placed into the middle of an aztec design. looks like another confused white guy.

Yeah, because it's impossible to be more than one race, right? I think you got slapped by your mom's tits when you were breastfeeding.

sgt_pepperidge - i have a similar issue with black ink but take colours and especially white particularly well. though not all my tats raised from the ink, the black just doesn't stay well, it just fades some. i wouldn't worry about the raised skin bit, especially since there's nothing you can do about it now. you can try vitamin e oil on it since that helps reduce scarring. touch ups always happen about 4 weeks after the initial tattoo. when we visited ireland last year for 2 weeks, i got a coverup on my arm done, and had to get a touch up in under 2 weeks, hurt like a motherfucker, but my skin didn't raise from it

Black ink is raised because he went too deep and used too much ink. The art work itself is nice though. Once it is completly heald it will look alright
