Heliodisplay

As the manufacturer describes it "Heliodisplay images are not holographic although they are free-space, employing a rear projection system in which images are captured onto a nearly invisible plane of transformed air." What that says to me is "hologram"

That's pretty cool, also it wouldn't surprise me if the word "hologram" was trade marked though.

It can only be a hologram if you can move around the still image and it looks like you're moving around an object.

Hey that didn't come so long after I saw the idea in Minority Report like other ideas which people thought up in the 20s and 30s. Maybe one day we'll have holograms like Rimmer althought hopefully not him.

wow, I love how everything we're predicting is coming true.....robots, holograms...now all we need is Tom Cruise and a complicated storyline.

I took a class in basic holography years ago in college and did a study on what it would take to make mid-air holograms. I've seen some mid-air holograms done recently using a current of warm air to project the image on, and I imagine this is similar. I kind of wondered if it took something like using special particles to hold the image...

guess nowhere is right.. laser beamer projecting on a fog cloud. the interaction is no big deal either.

The camera was still in every scene.

Should move to see what it looks like from other angles.

They did this in seaquest dsv fookin years ago. It's not a hologram as such, as it's just a flat image projected onto a flat 'screen' of mist. like the gorrilaz

I found the website for this a while back.

It might be steam and fog but it's completely invisible... they have units that work in lit rooms too.

It would just be a line from the side....it was only 2-d.......Did anyone see the holographic video game that was out in the early 90's?
It had somthing to do with cowboys but it was an actual free standing hologrham...
I think it was done with a concave mirror..

Plugs into any standard video source. Know of a standard video source that can output 3D holographic imagery information? There's a big diference between creating a fully 3D image and displaying a flat image. I can make Google Earth's earth spin in my CRT like that car. I can also project it on falling water or just about anything else flat that I can stick my hand through, but that doesn't make it a hologram.

WHERE ARE THE GOD DAMN NAKED 3D GIRLS?!?!?

Just like Scooby Doo!

All we need is this 8mm film projector and a slice of cheese and we can make a ghost pirate ship!
